Mid-Century Modern Meets Japandi on the Northern Beaches of Sydney

Newport House is a thoughtful renovation that pays homage to the home’s 1960's origins while reimagining it for contemporary family living. What began as a modest two-bedroom dwelling has been respectfully extended to include three additional bedrooms, creating a home that balances warmth, function and architectural integrity.

The design embraces the natural surrounds of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, with rich cedar cladding juxtaposed against dark shadow cladding to create depth and contrast. Inspired by the vertical lines of the original structure, the extension feels both grounded and elevated, celebrating the rhythm, texture and timeless appeal of mid-century design in a modern Australian context.​
